Beyond Housing is the largest community housing organisation within the Goulburn and Ovens Murray regions of Victoria and the main entry point for the homelessness system.

Shepparton’s first-of-its-kind housing project to address regional homelessness

The Silent Struggle: Disability and Homelessness

Family Violence key driver of homelessness
Family violence is one of the leading causes of homelessness, particularly for women and children escaping unsafe homes.
Across the Goulburn and Ovens Murray regions for the 2023-2024 period, 348 women reported family violence, and 116 women cited family breakdown as their primary reason for accessing homelessness services from Beyond Housing services. Combined, this accounts for 32% of all women seeking help. Another 254 women reported "other" reasons for accessing services.
The Hidden Crisis: Homelessness Among Older Australians
Nearly one in eight people accessing Beyond Housing’s specialist homelessness services is over 55.
In 2023-2024, 345 people aged 55 and over sought assistance from Beyond Housing out of the total of 2,949 people experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless across the Goulburn and Ovens Murray regions.
