Beyond Housing is proud to have delivered eight new housing units under the Victorian Government’s Flood Recovery Program, providing homes for people affected by the 2022 floods and adding housing stock back into communities impacted by the floods as part of Homes Victoria’s broader recovery initiative to support communities and boost local economic activity.
With a total project budget of $3.39 million, including a contribution from Beyond Housing, the Shepparton project was completed on time and within budget. The homes have now been allocated to renters affected by the floods and those unable to secure rental accommodation due to the shortage of affordable rental accommodation in the wake of the floods, giving them a stable foundation to move forward.
The Minister for Housing, the Hon. Harriet Shing, visited the site on Friday, speaking with residents who have moved into their new homes and hearing firsthand about the positive impact of secure, affordable housing on their lives.
Beyond Housing CEO Celia Adams said the project demonstrated the power of collaboration between government, Community Housing Providers, and local businesses.
“Investing in housing creates opportunities for people to rebuild, regain independence, and thrive after a crisis,” she said.
“We worked with Homes Victoria and our trusted local builder, Sessions Builders, to deliver these homes quickly because we know how critical it is for people to have a stable place to call home,” Ms Adams said.
The development includes five one-bedroom and three two-bedroom units designed for comfort, energy efficiency, and modern living.
Two additional flood recovery housing projects, funded by Homes Victoria, are set for completion in September and December 2025.
“We are committed to growing the supply of social housing, and we will continue working with our partners to ensure more people have the opportunity for a secure and affordable home,” Ms Adams said.
